The Remedies are a highly skilled, high energy Sacramento based rock band with two lead guitarists and three part vocal harmonies playing a wide range of your favorite rock and roll covers that will get you dancing.  We are constantly expanding our repertoire, exploring new sounds, and refining our performance.  We have had a lot of fun playing top venues in Sacramento, Woodland, and Davis, but we have also played some great music festivals and corporate parties.  While we primarily perform cover songs we have written and performed some rocking originals that have been well received.  Come see The Remedies and bring your dancing shoes!!

Thomas McIlraith

Raised to be a classical musician, Thomas rebelled as a young adult and bought a six-string guitar.  Tired of listening to others tell him what to play, he forwent lessons and taught himself how to play the thing, but the discipline and dedication he learned as a classical musician were valuable lessons that allowed him to excel with this new instrument.  The same was true when it came to singing.  A talented tenor who sang in every imaginable kind of musical production except rock, he used his training to develop his rock and roll pipes.  He used his skills for a wide dynamic rage, from crooning Marvin Gaye to belting out rock anthems from AC/DC.  He has led many successful bands including The Arrhythmias which he co-founded at The University of Wisconsin in 1992 (the band still exists today) to forming The Remedies in 2008.

Dave Walters

Dave Walters, bass and vocals. Dave started his musical career in jazz trombone and took it pretty far until he discovered the guitar and later the electric bass. “My mom and dad and sister were all classically trained so I was the rebel.” Singing came naturally, first to his baby daughters in the bathtub then in church and rock ‘n’ roll bands. Cofounder of Sacramento local classic rock band Custom Neon, he also plays regularly in the indie-folk-covers-rock band Wealth of Nations. Dave branched out into the Remedies to explore new sounds and stretch out more on the bass and vocals. He likes to cut loose…

Mason Johnstone

Despite beginning his musical journey on the violin and piano, the drums soon captured Mason’s attention, resulting in an unbreakable bond between musician and instrument. After teaching himself through YouTube videos for years, Mason finally sought formal teachings under Tim Wilbur who introduced Mason to a more technical and musical side of drumming. Throughout grade school, Mason was a walker between worlds, playing in both jazz/big bands and rock bands. Drawing on his jazz roots, Mason enjoys bringing musicality and melody into his playing, heavily influenced by Art Blakey, Papa Jo Jones, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, and John Bonham.

Brian Gorecki

"Music is my first true love and savior...".  Starting on the drums not long after learning to walk and discovering guitar around 8 years old, Brian began a life long journey having music be the common thread.  Being in a family that introduced a wide assortment of musical influences, meeting amazing players and musical excellence as a core, two qualities rose to the top, melody and musicianship.  Some of his many influences are Al Di Meola, Edward Van Halen, Steve Vai, Herb Ellis, Les Paul, Oscar Peterson and Arthur Kinsey (Dad).
